Kimberly has a diverse background in ecology and environmental science. Her interest in the natural world began when she learned about animal habitats in elementary school. This curiosity about ecosystems and the natural cycles that sustain them eventually brought her to Virginia Tech to study the impacts of human activities on freshwater streams. Her diverse background in conservation-based research and a lifelong passion for learning have provided a foundation for involvement in community education and citizen science programs. She has experience in science education as well as project management, and enjoys working with diverse communities toward common goals. Her role as Director of Programs focuses on promoting partnerships and programs that support sustainability and environmental education.

Kimberly has a degree in Biology from Temple University, and graduate degrees in Fish and Wildlife Conservation from Michigan State University and Virginia Tech. She currently volunteers with the Boy Scouts Association as an Assistant Scout Leader and is a member of the North Cross Parent Teacher Association. She lives in Roanoke with her family and three dogs. When she is not working, you will find her enjoying the great outdoors-hiking, camping, or kayaking.
