Decca Knight is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional School Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Practitioner. Decca has 15 years of experience in the mental health field and has worked in the school system, private practice, and as a consultant to various agencies, organizations, and school systems. Currently Decca works as the Coordinator of Trauma-Informed Care and Elementary Counseling for Roanoke City Schools while managing her consulting firms, Blue Ridge Parenting and Connected Child Consulting. Decca is also a 10 year breast cancer survivor and volunteers extensively as a medical and legislative advocate with numerous cancer non-profits including Susan G. Komen, Young Survivor’s Coalition, and the National Breast Cancer Coalition. Decca is the founder of Standing for Equity in the Roanoke Valley (SERV), a non-profit that promotes equity and inclusion in the Roanoke Valley. Decca serves on various Boards of Directors and has been awarded the “Golden Halo” award by Children’s Trust for preventing child abuse in the Roanoke community as well as the Humanitarian and Caring Person Award for the Virginia Counselors Association.
